Protective court orders are used in an attempt to reduce harm to those who are at risk of physical abuse and stalking. Although it is a “court order”, in reality, law enforcement can only be reactive when a protective order violation occurs. In many cases, victims believe they were beaten in retaliation to having obtained protection orders against their offender. A call to local law enforcement for help and protection is dependent on how long it takes before help can arrive. It only takes a second for a catastrophic occurrence to take place. Statistics support this is an all too often occurrence. Creative solutions for protection against physical abuse and stalking are needed. DVAP is proactive in nature and can prevent the results of a violated protective order.

I want to personally thank Jeff from DVAP Riverside for going above and beyond in helping serve my restraining order. From the very beginning, he was kind, respectful, and incredibly professional. He made me feel safe, heard, and supported—something that means everything when you’re already dealing with trauma and fear. Jeff didn’t just show up to serve papers—he showed up with heart. He made sure I had all the information I needed, explained everything clearly, and most importantly, stayed with me until I was calm. I was able to accompany Jeff and a client on a court accompaniment. DVAP provided the client with emotional support and resources throughout the day. Given the nature of the case, DVAP’s security services were incredibly necessary. Jeff kept the client as distanced from the defendant as possible. Overall, DVAP helped the client feel comfortable and safe throughout the day, and I would definitely recommend DVAP services to others.

DVAP is an incredible program that puts the victim first in their most dire time of need. They have personable staff that actually care about each of their clients. We were fearful to return home due to our abuser and needed support taking down cameras and securing the area. Jeffrey was so patient, caring, and supportive as we finally returned home many weeks after the attack. Jeffrey also accompanied me to my hearing, ensuring my safety and walking me through the process. I can’t thank the DVAP enough for helping us feel safe during one of the most critical periods of our life. Thank you!

DVAP is an amazing organization that was there for me when I needed help. An FJC Advocate helped me and walked me through the process of getting a restraining order and thankfully my restraining order was granted, She introduced me to a the DVAP Executive Director, and he went above and beyond to help me with the process of serving the other party, thanks to his persistence and hard work.
